Learn the basics of mountain climbing with the pros at Mountain Gurus, and then summit the tallest mountain in Washington to top out at 14,411 ft!  An introduction will orient you for the climb before we head to our first stop at Camp Muir.  The next day, a basic climb school by Mountain Gurus will teach you the essentials you need to succeed.  The final day will be summit day.  If the weather is safe, you will be on the top of the world on July 21st!

The Itenerary:

July 19 • Hike to Camp Muir • 10,100ft
Meet 7:00 am in the town of Ashford at the Nisqually Entrance to Mount Rainier National Park. Gear check and drive to Paradise Meadows trailhead. Hike to Camp Muir. A program introduction and Leave No Trace lecture will be held. (D)

July 20 • Camp Muir • 10,100ft
A pre-climb discussion and basic climb school will be taught. (B)(D)

July 21 • Summit Day • Mount Rainier • 14,411ft
Summit day starts early. We begin roped climbing crossing the Cowlitz Glacier and passing over Cathedral Gap to Ingraham Flats. We take a short break and traverse to the base of Disappointment Cleaver. The climb continues up the DC route reaching the top of the clever at 12,300’. After a rest break we climb the upper Emmons glacier to high break at 13,500’. The route then climbs the final snow dome to the summit crater and a short walk to Columbia Crest the summit of Mount Rainier. Descend to camp at Ingraham Flats and return to Paradise. (B)
